Kakinada District Under-15 Chess Championship Selections Held at IDPS Panasapadu

The Kakinada District Ad-hoc Committee successfully organized the Kakinada District Under-15 Chess Championship Selections on July 6, 2025, at the International Delhi Public School (IDPS) in Panasapadu. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 80 young chess players, showcasing their talent and competitive spirit.

The tournament was graciously hosted by IDPS, with the school’s Chairman, Shri M. Swamy Surya Kumar Garu, and Directors, Shri V. N. J. M. Roshit and  Shri V. Ramesh, providing their full support to ensure the event’s success. The venue, IDPS, served as an excellent setting for this prestigious competition, fostering an environment of learning and sportsmanship.

The event was meticulously supervised by Mr. K. Jagadesh Kumar Garu, General Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Chess Association and Kakinada District In-Charge. His leadership ensured seamless arrangements throughout the tournament. The IDPS team, including Smt. Prathima, Shri Gaurav, Shri Rajesh (School In-Charge), and Smt. Phani Kumari (PET and Chess Trainer), played a pivotal role in organizing the event, ensuring it adhered to the scheduled timeline and ran smoothly.

Tournament Highlights

The selection tournament was officiated by Chief Arbiter Mr. Kiran Kumar Paluri, who announced the winners selected to represent Kakinada District in the upcoming Under-15 Open and Girls Chess Championships. The selected players are as follows:

Open Category:

1Jayaprakash. 

2. Surada Yashaswi Satya Gangadhar,  

3. Rathna Sai Nihal Pulagurtha,

 4. Jaya Saketh Pasumarthi 

Girls Category:

1. Sai Saranya Kolluri,

2. Pechetti Sravani Sri Satya,

3. Sudhiksha Kopanathi,

4. Thanmayi Buddana

A total of eight players were chosen to proudly represent Kakinada District in the state-level championship.

The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest MS. Kuldeep Kaur Sekhon, who congratulated the winners and participants for their dedication and skill. She presented prizes to the victorious players, inspiring them to continue excelling in the sport.

Mrs. Krishnaveni, Coordinator of the Kakinada District Ad-hoc Committee, expressed her delight at the overwhelming participation, noting that approximately 80 players competed in the event. She commended the young talents for their enthusiasm and competitive spirit, which made the tournament a grand success.

The Kakinada District Under-15 Chess Championship Selections not only highlighted the district’s emerging chess talent but also underscored the importance of such events in nurturing young minds and promoting chess as a sport. The Ad-hoc Committee and IDPS Panasapadu deserve appreciation for their efforts in organizing this inspiring event.
